Sand dunes and panoramic views. A highlight of the trip along the spit beach is the opportunity to stop and climb one of the low sand dunes that run down the spine of the spit. From the top of the dunes a 360 degree view unfolds. The historic lighthouse is located about 27 kms along the beach, almost at the seaward end of Farewell Spit. Welcome to Farewell Spit Tours. The Tinbum Triathlon is a local event in Pohara, Golden Bay. It features an ocean swim, multiterrain bike and a running leg. The triathlon has been running since 1999. The triathlon starts and finishes at Pohara Top 10 Holiday Park. The date for the 2018 event is Sunday 18th of March. Registration is all done on the day.
